Medicare is health insurance for people 65 or older.
You may be eligible to get Medicare earlier if you have a disability, End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), or ALS (also called Lou Gehrig’s disease).
Medicare consists of four programs:
1. Hospital Insurance (Part A)
2. Supplementary Medical Insurance (Part B)
3. Medicare Advantage (Part C)
4. Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit (Part D).
The term “Original Medicare” is made up of Parts A & B of Medicare, on average these two programs cover 80% of your health care costs
Because the Original Medicare program only covers 80% of your healthcare costs, we have to add additional insurance products. The options available are Medicare Supplement plans with a Prescription Drug plan, OR a Medicare Advantage plan.
